Fun facts: Was an All American Rugby player at Vassar College. While I have long since retired from the bruises of rugby, I now spend my free time volunteering for a parrot sanctuary and travel annually to Guyana to help protect the last surviving Sun Parakeets in the wild. I have 2 very large rescue dogs at home who do not appreciate our doorbell, and we live in a tiny house overflowing with exotic plants.

Melanie Lary
Research and Campaigns OfficerEducation: Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, M.S. in Animals and Public Policy; Skidmore College, B.A. in Biology
Main Function: In charge of research, programs, and campaigns for FOUR PAWS USA; work on international campaigns, providing the U.S. perspective and national information, while further engaging in U.S. topics and issues relating to our FOUR PAWS mission and overall work. I also oversee all import requirements to ensure animals rescued from the dog and cat meat trade in Southeast Asia can safely enter the U.S. to find new homes.
Fun Facts: Originally from TX and live in MA with my fiancé Matt and rescued cat Sophie; grew up with lots of animals like Arabian and miniature horses, chickens, fish, cats, and dogs; love to hike, bird watch, travel, and relax at home with my loved ones.

Claire LaFrance
Communications Director / Head of CommunicationsEducation: Wheaton College, MA. Studied Political Science.
Main Function: Manage media relations and develop relationships with media members, influencers, and community leaders. Lead all digital communications through multiple channels including website and social.
Fun Facts: Writer, mom, traveler and reader. In downtime, volunteers as a certified Therapy Dog team with dog Ruffy visiting nursing homes, hospice facilities, hospitals and schools bringing some puppy love to those who need it the most!

Ren Bettencourt
Content CreatorEducation: Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, M.S. in Animals and Public Policy; Simmons College, M.A. in Teaching; University of New Hampshire, B.A. in English; University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts
Main Function: To create content for our social media channels and website and to manage digital communications for the US office.
Fun Facts: Has published research on public attitudes towards seals and have created several stop motion animated videos about the history and importance of seals in the oceanic ecosystem. While the ocean and marine life are close to their heart, it was Ren’s rescued dog, Tamer who originally sparked a deeper interest in the animal welfare movement. They currently live with their second rescued dog, Ruthie, who also travels with them into the FOUR PAWS office in Boston.

Carly Rome
Manager of the Founder’s SocietyEducation: Baruch College, Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Nonprofit Management; SUNY New Paltz, B.A. in Sociology and Communications
Main Function: Engage with our incredible supporters and raise funds to support our rescues, campaigns, and sanctuaries worldwide.
Fun Facts: Loves hiking, bike riding, traveling, writing, and music. Adores her rescue dog, a pitbull mix named Lavender who joins her on outdoor adventures. Animal rescue advocate and volunteer from a young age, focused her master’s capstone on companion animal welfare and issues associated with puppy mills in the US.

Carolyn Cresci
Digital Fundraising OfficerEducation: The New School, MA International Affairs; Long Island University, BA Sociology.
Main Function: Digital fundraising through email marketing and other digital engagement streams
Fun Facts: Prior to joining FOUR PAWS, worked at a number of organizations throughout Tanzania, Uganda, and Peru. Avid traveler. Currently hosts dozens of foster kittens per year and very involved in TNR programs for community cats in northern NJ.

Madison Kiley
Digital Communications OfficerEducation: Georgia State University, B.A. in Film/Video, Minor in Psychology
Main Function: Manage US Social Media Channels
Fun Fact: Grew up on a farm where her mother ran a non-profit dog rescue and has had a soft spot for animals & animal rescue ever since! Now lives with 4 rescues (2 dogs, 2 cats) who are all equally spoiled rotten.

Siobhan Hansen
Database ManagerEducation: Studied Forestry at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale IL and Journalism at Northwestern University, Evanston IL.
Main Function: In charge of managing our database and supporting fundraising operations.
Fun Fact: Has been working in non-profits for over 3 decades, starting out knocking on doors and raising money for Greenpeace in the 80’s, traveling the world even living in Iceland for a few years to monitor the whale hunt. Can speak Icelandic and have met 3 former presidents.

Kelley Reed
Development AssistantEducation: B.A. in Communication from Central Connecticut State University, and a M.S. in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University
Main function: Responsible for gift and data entry into FOUR PAWS’ CRM.
Fun Facts: Loves coffee, dancing, historical fiction novels and her rescue kitty and pittie.

Charlene Allen
Human Resources SpecialistEducation: Bachelor of Arts, Regis College, Weston, MA
Main Function: Provide Human Resources support and guidance to the FOUR PAWS USA team. Collaborate with Global Centers of expertise for consistent HR programs, Create a positive and vibrant work environment, while making a positive impact on animal welfare.
Fun Facts: Active volunteer at a local animal shelter/hospital, and volunteer at a Massachusetts Audubon Sanctuary caring for their herd of Nigerian dwarf goats. Global travel and hiking are a passion all with the goal of viewing wildlife in their natural and rightful habitats.
