The Great Elephant Migration
See the exhibit at its final stop in Los Angeles
Your final chance to see Madhubala and the herd in Los Angeles
After traveling across country on a 5,000 mile journey, the Great Elephant Migration will reach the West Coast finish line in Los Angeles, California.
The Great Elephant Migration is a one-of-a-kind public art and fundraising campaign featuring 100 life-sized elephant sculptures, handcrafted from invasive Lantana camara by The Real Elephant Collective, 200 Indigenous artisans in India’s Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Each sculpture is modeled after a real elephant, and one of the sculptures represents Madhubala, whom FOUR PAWS reunited with her sisters in Pakistan in 2024.
Another notable sculpture in the herd is Kaavan, known as the 'world's loneliness elephant'. Chained in isolation and poor conditions for three decades, Pakistan's only Asian elephant had been confined to an inadequate enclosure at the Marghazar Zoo in Islamabad, Pakistan before FOUR PAWS helped rescue Kaavan in 2020.
Starting on July 1, 2025, the exhibit will be on view at The Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, CA at Beverly Hills Garden Park along Santa Monica Boulevard. The installation is free and open to the public through August 1, 2025.

Wrapped in History: A Culmination in Ceremony
In Beverly Hills, the elephants will be adorned with ceremonial blankets as part of Wrapped in History, an artistic collaboration curated by renowned Indian designer Vikram Goyal. Each blanket is created by an artist or designer from around the world and draws from South Asian, Indigenous North American, and diasporic textile traditions.
“These blankets transform the elephants from sculpture into ritual,” said Goyal. “They honor the elephant as an ancient being and carrier of wisdom. Each textile tells a story of protection, resilience, and belonging.”
A blanket ceremony and celebration will be held at The Wallis in Beverly Hills upon the elephants' arrival. Following the event, the blankets will be auctioned off online, with proceeds supporting conservation NGOs across continents—from elephants and bison to jaguars and tigers.
