FOUR PAWS and Friends ‘Break Up’ with Michael Kors
Celebrities, actors, and models join voices to move fashion away from Live Lamb Cutting
BOSTON, MA – NOVEMBER 24, 2025. Going through a break-up is hard. But not as hard as knowing what is happening to 10 million lambs in the Merino wool industry. In a bold new campaign, celebrities, models, authors and activists “Break up” with Michael Kors through a new viral video.
The video, produced by L.A. based Pollution Studios, stars fashion model and animal rights activist, Elizabeth Turnner; marketing and media influencer Will Moncada; writer and activist, Kathy Freston; actor, content creator and attorney, Shaka Smith; and actor, musician and influencer, Lucy Blehar. Through their participation and subsequent "breakup" with Michael Kors, these influential individuals hope to make a difference for millions of lambs in the Merino wool industry.
Wool is the most widely used animal fiber in the fashion industry, yet over half of it comes from sheep subjected to the brutal practice of live lamb cutting (LLC), also known as mulesing. This procedure involves the removal of skin and flesh from a lamb’s hindquarters—often without proper pain relief. Lambs as young as two weeks old endure this crude practice, which inflicts severe pain that can last for weeks. The excised tissue, generally the size of a human palm. Live lamb cutting is an outdated practice done as a quick and cheap response to deal with the issue of flystrike even though there are more effective, economically viable and pain-free alternatives that exist today. This global issue centers around Australia, which accounts for roughly 80% of the world’s fine wool for apparel. Australia is the world’s largest exporter of the Merino wool and the only country where LLC remains legal.
The star-studded video begins with the stars attempting to get Michael Kors attention. “Michael!” they each exclaim and begins to explain why they need to “break up” with the brand. Elizabeth Turner added, "the fact that your brand has no animal welfare policy…”, while Kathy Freston continued the thought, “such a turn off.”
FOUR PAWS’ latest report, Behind the Wool: Transparency on Live Lamb Cutting in Fashion, investigated over 100 fashion brands across 11 countries to assess their commitment and transparency around LLC in their wool supply chains. Luxury label Michael Kors scored zero points. The brand did not respond to FOUR PAWS’ inquiries, lacks transparency on its wool sourcing, and makes no commitment to certified LLC-free wool (or any other animal welfare standard).
FOUR PAWS works to push both the wool production and fashion industries forward. The global movement of fashion brands against LLC is gaining momentum, with over 340 brands publicly committed to certified live lamb cut-free wool (mulesing-free) and nearly 150 international companies that have signed FOUR PAWS’ Brand Letter of Intent, including Hugo Boss, Adidas, Mango and most recently Lacoste.
Throughout FOUR PAWS’ work on wool, this is not the first time the global animal welfare organization has collaborated with celebrities to protect sheep. In February 2025, FOUR PAWS released a video series called Be Their Voice that included Mallory Lewis and Lamb Chop, actors Nicole Zyana, Logan Shroyer, Deirdre Friel, and model and activist, Elizabeth Turner. In October 2024, FOUR PAWS released a star-studded animated video featuring Australian actress Danielle Macdonald and U.S. actor Scott Evans, hoping to spread awareness about live lamb cutting.
FOUR PAWS encourages the public to watch the Break-Up video and take our e-action to move brands like Michael Kors towards traceability in their wool supply, clear labeling, and to switch away from Live Lamb Cutting.
